Many people want to be part of Neuerotica, and who can blame them? In our previous incarnation, we attracted tens of thousands of visitors a month who were looking for something new to listen to, enjoy, and wear. You couldn’t choose a better place to showcase your creations than here!

Under a different moniker, we’ve interviewed such luminaries as DJ/model/vocalist Ami Carmine, who, after retiring from her former band Them&Us, went on to score her first Number 1 song as co-writer of 'Shot Thru The Heart' for K Pop/J Pop sensation 'TWICE' on their Number one selling album 'Summer Nights'. We mention this to reassure you of our commitment to journalistic professionalism. We offer the same professionalism and respect to lesser-known creatives.

Our articles are also available in the Apple News app, where they are syndicated to millions of macOS and iOS users. This enables us to reach more people than those who visit our website.

Please keep in mind that, even if you meet all of the requirements, there’s still a chance that you won’t be picked. It isn’t necessarily a lack of faith in your talent; it could simply be that we feel you’re not a good fit, or there may be other reasons.

International creatives are welcome! For the most part, language barriers shouldn’t be much of a problem. Our publisher is familiar with languages and cultures worldwide and is always willing to share his knowledge and experience with the rest of the team.

One other thing you might consider if you’re a musician (especially musicians, in fact) is that, even if we greenlight your interview, we may not be able to publish an article about you in time for an event such as an album release. We’re expecting a high volume of submissions. Your best option is to contact us by completing the form below and submitting it within a timeframe that allows us to publish in time for your event.

Approved subjects should send us all links to their social media accounts, but that is your decision. If you don't have a social media account, that’s fine.

Please read the guidelines below, as each requirement could be a factor in your chances of publication.

In the realm of art, we sincerely believe in pushing the envelope as far as we can without crossing into harmful or illegal territory. We recognize that, being a “subversive” e-magazine, it might be assumed that we are willing to publish anything we wish. However, this is not the case. This primarily applies to artists and photographers. As mentioned above, our articles are syndicated by Apple News. Our channel has been designated by Apple as “mature”, which means that we have certain liberties. However, we will not jeopardize our agreement or lose our best asset for disseminating our articles (details on these restrictions are available below). We may decide to publish your explicit artwork, but opt out of feeding it to our Apple News channel.

That said, we are not prudish and do not tolerate censorship here. Send us samples of what you have, and we’ll let you know whether we’re interested. Even if we say no, there is still a chance we may change our minds later. If there’s any information you believe we’ve left out here, please do not hesitate to contact us.

There is a lot of reading to be done here, but the effort is well worth your time. It will help us publish high-quality, engaging articles and protect you from disappointment.

We extend our sincere thanks for your interest in joining Neuerotica.

Artists

The requirements for this category are the most complex of the categories listed below, so please review all of them.

If you’re an artist (painter, sculptor, graffiti artist, etc.), this is your category. Photographers and models can be categorized into two groups, depending on the subject of the article. If you’re a fashion photographer, your place is in the “Couture” section. This means you work for hire with brands or fashion events and wish to display your talent in fashion photography.

Photographers whose specialty is artistic photography fall under the “Art” section.

Models can fall into one of the same two categories as photographers. Fashion models would naturally fall under the Couture category. Artistic models will be classified as art and appear in our Art section. Erocosplay models also fall into the Art category.

Manga artists (including hentai artists) may also apply.

If you have any questions regarding these requirements, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Regarding the kinds of content allowed, this is where it gets complicated. Of course, nudity is permitted. Scenes of intercourse (or oral intercourse) are allowed. However, penetration can be implied, but not shown; e.g., sex with someone from the back. That does not mean it cannot be in your work, but it should not be visible. Ejaculate is another matter that we’re not entirely sure how to decide upon, but we’re likely to approve it “after the fact”, rather than in the act. As with everything else, we will review each submission on its own merits.

We will not accept any photographs where children (to be clear, that’s anyone under the age of eighteen) are nude or sexually displayed. Models under the age of eighteen are not eligible to submit. Neuerotica does not possess the wherewithal to provide an agreement or contract, in which case your testimony by email, verifying your age (as model), or (as photographer), the age of your subjects shall serve as veracity of your claim.

We have a somewhat unique view on AI-generated art, and while we’re aware of the negatives that come with its use, we are also aware of the positives. Since the controversy surrounding it surfaced several years ago, we’ve been monitoring the dialogue and have considered both viewpoints. Neuerotica uses (or reuses, I should say) AI-generated art in our site graphics and memes. Most of the memes and graphics here have been purchased (or otherwise acquired) and then “scraped” and modified by our publisher to either reduce the AI-ness of the images or alter their context (there are times when the entire AI-generated image is required, however). We do not make AI-generated art. Our reasons for this are explained in our Proem.

You are welcome to submit any AI-generated art, and we hope you will.

Bands/Musicians

You’ve probably noticed the “pop” in our tagline, “subversive pop culture”. We’re interested in publishing articles and interviews about techno, hyperpop, glitch, nightcore, or any of the micro-genres that are, in one way or another, connected through a mutual musical lineage. Basically, underground or independent pop is what we’re looking for. Pop punk and indie pop are also welcome. Hip Hop (or rap) is another genre we are looking forward to. What we are not looking forward to are rap songs that are misogynistic or homophobic.

The other qualification is that you must have a catalog of songs that is large enough to write a story around. You don’t need an extensive catalog, but we will not accept submissions of just two or three songs.

Once you’ve been accepted, be sure to send us all the media you wish us to publish with your article. We are willing to accept phone camera photos, but they must be clear and larger than (at least) 1200px. You need to send more than two or three photographs; aim for about ten. This allows us to choose which ones will accompany the article when it’s published.

Fashion Designers

If you’ve created fewer than a handful of designs, we will not accept your submission.

Should your submission be accepted, please send approximately 10 images of your crafted haberdashery so we can select which will accompany the article when it’s published.

If your designs allow certain parts of the body to be exposed, that’s fine. We won’t censor your images here, nor will we ask you to do so.

Contributing Authors

Currently, it is unfeasible for Neuerotica to hire writers. Instead, seek out talented writers, regardless of their experience level. Writing for Nuerotica may help you gain the expertise required for a real-world journalism position.

One of our former writers left us to become a journalist at a mainstream newspaper and included Neuerotica on her resume as evidence of her experience. This may not be your goal, but it is worth considering.

You’ll be assigned interview subjects, but you may choose one you prefer. Be aware that your choice may not be accepted.

On the editorial front, these articles will differ from articles found elsewhere on Neuerotica. If you’re familiar with the editorial section of any periodical, then you know that articles published in this section are for observations and opinions. The type of editorials we publish is occasionally related to our other content. For instance, rather than an interview with an individual, you would write stories about our covered subjects, the scene in which specific musicians are part of, or the venues.

Our editorial will also cover politics, human rights, LGBTQ issues, and related topics, and we welcome contributions from anyone involved in homeless relief efforts, food programs, education, activism, and institutions that serve people and the greater good. We’ll need a short bio and a profile picture for your article prior to publication.
