The Taking of Lucy Magdalene
The first time I had ever seen a photograph of Lucy Magdalene, I immediately noticed her eyes. It is said that the eyes are the window to the soul, and in Lucy’s eyes, I witnessed something amazing. What I saw is not for me to tell, for me to tell you would taint your perception. What I can tell you is that what I saw, was akin to looking at an inviting book cover, enticing me to pore through its pages, and explore its depths. There is a rich and wondrous story within.
But while her eyes may tell much, her body tells more. In her poses and demeanor in each photograph she appears in, Lucy tells stories. No matter her state of dress (or undress, as the case may be), there lies a tale awaiting interpretation and appreciation. So few models are capable of such, which makes them all the more sought after by photographers. In fact, the photographs displayed here, come courtesy of the award-winning and renowned Steve Lease, who (in my opinion) has always captured Lucy in her true element. This is a talent of his I mentioned in my article about him in the early days of this magazine.
What you see here are more than just images of a beautiful woman, taken by a talented photographer. It is art, the anatomy of human expression.
