Say It's Seyit's!

Avant-Garde…edgy…futuristic…exotic…romantic…BOLD! Those are just a few words that come to mind when describing Seyit Ares’ Paris FW20 collection presented earlier this month. The German designer is all about putting the female body into the spotlight; and, that he certainly did!

His flair for the extraordinary showcased in this runway as the models wore their hearts on their sleeves.  The oversized balloon shaped sleeves appeared as if the models wore two halves of a giant heart or cupid’s wings on their shoulders. His use of a shiny material, possibly metallic spandex lycra, lamé or leather, gave the appearance of femme fatales in suits of armour; as if to announce, ’Come to me, but you’d better stand back and admire from afar’. The colors of bright fuchsia, red, green, and combinations of pearlized yellow and pink or blue and purple made the female models mesmerizing to watch; and, even his designs for men, although the models appeared metrosexual and ambiguous at moments, were equally masculine, flamboyant and exotic. Seyit paid just as much attention to his accessories; chokers, belts and purses with large appliques shaped in hearts and diamond made of tulle, lace and fringes completed his ensembles to perfection.

Born in Leverkusen, Germany, Seyit Ares began his fashion career as a make-up artist and hairstylist.  However, after studying at the Fashion Design Institut in Düsseldorf and interning at Marina Hoermannseder’s atelier in Berlin, it became apparent the world of fashion was in for a creative treat.  His collections, displayed in Paris, Vancouver, and Vietnam, helped Seyit to showcase his stand-out talents to the world.  Everyone can now look at his distinctive style and quickly say it’s Seyit’s.
