Mood Ndigo
I am not telling anyone how I initially pronounced: “Ndigo” before I realized that it was “indigo” and fortunately, I didn’t say it out loud. I don’t have a proper segue to lead into the next paragraph, so…
Ndigo Studio is a black female-owned brand that has garnered support from The Black In Fashion Counsel, IMG, and the CFDA. The fashion brand was founded by Celebrity Stylist/Costume Designer Waïna Chancy and fashion designer Viviane Valerius: two powerful and like-minded women of culture who forged Ndigo Studio by crafting a line of clothing with vibrancy and edgy style that emphasized the beauty of art and fashion. The two met each other in design school in Miami and have been friends ever since. The brand was recently spotted on Sex & The City reboot "...And Just Like That" and has adorned the pages of countless top-tier publications and celebrities (ie: Gabrielle Union, Garcelle Beauvais, and more).
The newly inducted CFDA interim member showed a stunning collection of bright-colored sculptural pieces. Being a man whose only experience wearing women’s clothing is his ex-wife’s bra, I found myself wondering what I would look like in one of these fabulous creations. After seeing all of the designs here, could you really blame me? They are some of the most graceful styles you’ve ever seen walk the runway (and might I add that they look super comfortable against the skin).
