Renting out a luxury vacation home can be a hefty investment. When you are making a purchase that major, you want to make sure you are buying to meet your family’s needs. There are a variety of features and amenities you should be on the lookout for—especially if you have special circumstances or specific wants. Here are a few things you should look for when finding a luxury home to rent.

Open Space

Nobody likes to be cramped or claustrophobic. You should only invest in luxury homes that have plenty of open space you can spend your time in. If you are bringing a large group to stay in the home with you, having open space to eat meals and spend time together is essential. Having open space is good for children and infants, who might want an area to play.

This also works from a design perspective. Classier luxury homes generally have a decent amount of open space, as it feels less cluttered and adds to its interior design. If any of these are important for you, put it at the top of your list.

A Large Kitchen

Another important layout factor you should consider is the size of the kitchen. Again, most people who are spending money on a luxury home are traveling with a larger group—friends or family. This makes your purchasing goals different than if you were traveling by yourself or in a couple.

Your group will likely not spend time all in the same room together except during mealtimes. This makes it important for you to prioritize a big kitchen before you make the purchase. Check to see that there is enough furniture to accommodate everyone in your party.

Minimalist Design

For some people, they do not necessarily care about the layout, they want to talk about the design. Interior design can help make a rental feel more impressive, classy, and open. Minimalist style is the best way renters can make guests feel like royalty. To many minimalists, less is more. Overdecorating can make your stay less pleasant—but hopefully you won’t have to deal with that at a luxury home.

If you have design aficionados in your group, you may want to look at the style of your potential rental. High-quality designed places do not come cheap, so you should keep that in mind before you buy.

Outdoor Amenities

This is a crucial element to your vacation selection process. The outdoor amenities that come with your rental can make a huge difference in your overall enjoyment. At the very least, the home should have a patio or a deck. Beyond that, deck features make a great addition for socializing outdoors. Grills give incentive to cook outside, as well.

Some luxury homes have outdoor pools and hot tubs. These are fun for families and young adult groups who want to relax. If spending time out in the sun tanning is your preferred vacation, keep your eyes peeled for a vacant home.

Indoor Amenities

But what if you do not want to spend your whole vacation outdoors? You can also check out the indoor amenities every luxury home offers. Some homes try to offer hi-tech automation to make your life easier. Others offer fun indoor activities for you to do.

Movie rooms and game rooms come to mind. These can be great for late night activities if you cannot go out. They are also essential if your family will have little kids, as it can give them a break from exploring outside all day long. Game rooms can include video games and table-top games like billiards.

Relaxing Furniture

This one is a little harder to gauge, but furniture quality is another thing you should keep in mind when renting a home. While you can see the design of the furniture online, it might be hard to get a “feel” for it until you are there. Furniture is important, especially if seniors are a part of your travel group.

Consider looking at reviews online to see if anyone mentions the quality of the mattresses or couches. If there are not any negatives, you are probably in the clear. If there are, try looking for a different home or prepare for it in advance.

Great Location

This next item is mostly important depending on where you are planning on staying and what is most important to you. Are you looking for a good view? Consider renting a home in isolation that overlooks the city. Are you hoping for a small drive to restaurants and shows? Look to rent in the city itself. A great location can mean a lot of different things, but you should tailor to your needs and rent accordingly. This is one of the more subjective things, but it is important to think about.

Affordability

Price is obviously the number one issue when discussing rentals. The most important thing is that you communicate to your family and friends before you commit to any one house. See what their priorities and budget are. Decide which parts of your vacation are most important to the group and put those needs at the forefront of your search. Remember that paying more for the home can retract from other activities you want to do when you arrive for your vacation. The cost should be something you keep in mind before you start your research.

Your luxury home rental can be an excellent experience. You want to make sure it is a seamless ordeal when you begin your trip. Depending on the size of your group, you have a lot of things to consider: what activities will you do? Where will you eat? Who is coming with you? All these things need to be considered when going on vacation. Thankfully, you do not have to be stressed so long as you communicate with your group. The home should be a group effort. Your vacation can be one that you will never forget, so why not stay somewhere unforgettable?
