Miley Cyrus Is Her Mother's Daughter
Miley’s coming new and in your face
Miley Cyrus isn’t just a singer, and she’s much more than an artist. She’s a force of nature, fully capable of pushing boundaries and expanding horizons. She’s exactly the kind of artist the religious right loves to target while they scream something about “the children” and Satan and whatever. But Miley doesn’t seem to hear them, or at least, she doesn’t care. Nor should she. We need more women recording artists like Miley who are unafraid to express their sexuality and their desires. Just the same, men need to listen to women more and respect their wishes, whether they’re on the street, in the boardroom, or in the bedroom. Women aren’t getting the kind of satisfaction they deserve, which is why singers like Miley are putting it in our collective faces.
Men are afraid of women’s power, which is why the patriarchal religious right hates strong, independent-minded women. They are called by men unruly, disrespectful, dominating, obnoxious. But these are traits that men are known for exhibiting, to the detriment of society. If we’re going to bring down the patriarchy, we’re going to need more men on our side, more protests, and more music from women like Miley.
Her latest offering is entitled SHE IS COMING, but I think that it’s clear to all that she already came.
